Your Thesis Process Book documents will tend to break out into the following sections.

Please use the following list as a baseline for your process book.

  • The idea (where did it stem from)

  • Inspirations or Contemporaries that influenced or informed your work. Someone out there is doing work related to your idea. Who are they, and how can they push your idea?

  • Process Document your process of the different stages in your project. The start, mistakes, new versions, etc.

  • Final Work show it off with mock-ups or however, your work is best shown

  • A Final Reflection that tends to run 350–500 words and reflects back on your process and what you have learned about yourself and design through this process

  • Books should be 20+ pages. Please take a look are the references below. We are talking about 20+ artfully laid out pages that show you spent time thinking about the layout and presentation. The written sections vary, from example to example. Some are short and focused. Others had more to say. Either length works as long as you get your ideas and point across.

Your Process books can be designed as…

  • Book Style (2-page spreads)

  • Deck Presentations (landscape one-page layouts like a slide talk)
